GCU (UK) Ltd commitment to Health, Safety, Environment and Quality

GCU (UK) Ltd recognise the significance of performing to a high standard in line with Health, Safety, Environment and Quality principles. Continual improvement is embedded within the business with an active Integrated HSEQ Management System operating.

GCU (UK) Ltd have a dedicated internal HSEQ function to ensure that legislative requirements are met, understood and cultural change is driven throughout the business.

Health

We provide all employees and sub-contractors with a healthy working environment. We ensure that our workforce is fit for duty and monitor our people’s health in job-related risks. We actively promote a healthy working lifestyle through our sites, yards and offices.

Safety

Ensuring the safety of our employees, sub-contractors, clients, and members of the public is of paramount importance. Therefore, all employees and sub-contractors who work with us must demonstrate safe behaviours every day.

We take responsibility for safety through proper planning and by taking the time to carry out necessary assessments. We stop operations, immediately react to unsafe practice and operate within the limits and capacity of our work equipment and plant. We continuously seek to improve on best practice and address lessons learned.

A high percentage of our operational work sites are setup in close vicinity to members of the public. To ensure that we continually protect members of the public from our site hazards, we employ only trained Street Work Operators and Supervisors and maintain a high Supervisor to Gang ratio to monitor works continuously.

Environment

At GCU (UK) Ltd we operate to ensure that the impact to the environment as a result of our operations is as low as practicable. Our Environmental Policy drives compliance with current environmental legislative requirements for each geographic area that we operate. Environmental objectives are set and driven by the Directing Team to ensure continual improvement.

Quality

Our policy is to recognise and understand our Client’s needs and requirements which in turn enables us to deliver services that meet their expectation and the applicable regulatory requirements. The key objectives within our policy are delivered through a quality management system that is founded on the continual improvement of our key processes.
